BOXERS BIRTHDAY
All
horses have a set birthday so why can’t Boxers have a special day for
themselves?
Let’s
make February 26th from
now on Boxer’s Birth Day in honour of Flocki – the first registered Boxer
– born on that day in 1895.
From
“The Popular Boxer” by Elizabeth
Somerfield 1955
“No
1 in the old German Boxer Stud Book was Flocki, a male brindle whelped
February 26th, 1895.
His sire was Tom who had been mated to George Muhlbauer’s Alt’s
Schecken, the breeder being Andrew Nerf. Flocki
not only had the distinction of being No 1 in the stud book, but was also the
first Boxer ever to be shown.”
So
buy a cake and candles and let’s start a worldwide revolution right here in
Qld. This great idea came from one
of our Committee members, Shayne.
